Synopsis

The effect of a strong and original man on a headstrong girl is the theme of Suzanne Ebel’s new novel. The heroine, spirited but as yet sexually unawakened, meets the man by chance at a tragic time in her life. His attitudes and way of living, the antithesis of her own, fascinate and intrigue her. The result is a tug of war between two different kinds of strength. Set in Devonshire, and later against a backdrop of the London theatre, the story is attractively written, carrying the reader along by its mixture of subtle tension and wry humour.
