How far would you go to keep a promise? Lucas Ambler likes his rather quiet and uneventful life. As a loner, he experiences the wonder and solemnity of nature that is the Adirondacks. He considers himself Nature's Caretaker. He is passionate and eloquent when talking about wise and responsible stewardship of nature. "We are one with nature and our species will never survive if we do not understand this connection." Suddenly his life and the lives of three women are turned inside out when Lucas befriends a troubled sixteen year-old and makes a promise that defines a new destiny for all.
