It is 1978 in Paradise Valley, Arizona, and Patrick is new in town. Elizabeth first notices him in choir practice; she thinks of him as the boy with a dog, the boy who can hit a high C and give you goose pimples. In Patrick's mind, Elizabeth is the beautiful girl with a scarred arm who just happens to be the girlfriend of the most dangerous young man in town. Almost Home is the story of a first love that takes place against a no-holds-barred backdrop of family scandal and betrayal. Discovering exactly what she can and cannot heal, Elizabeth must confront the world she has inherited from her reckless parents. Patrick, meanwhile, will face a test not only of his courage but also of his loyalty to his family and to the complicated memory of his father.
