Verity's favourite patient told her that she reminded him of a lady in a poem, so easily made glad. He thought it a lovely quality, but she was soon reflecting bitterly that he was all too right. She had been warned against that high-powered charmer, Dr Webber, but had given her heart away recklessly and without reserve, and then had been left wondering if she had imagined something that did not exist.
