Synopsis

It is Florence in the 1490s. Lisa is from a minor, rather frayed branch, of an old noble family. Her parents’ only hope of surviving is to marry her off to a rich and generous suitor. When she meets and attracts the son of the ruler of the city, a virtual prince, her parents are overjoyed. When he comes in a carriage to proclaim his eternal love in front of the world, they believe their dreams have come true. But the boy’s father, the ruler of Florence, objects and forbids them to see each other. Her parents’ hopes are crushed. How will they survive? There is more than just a father’s edict keeping the lovers apart. Her lover is banished from the city when the French come, and fifteen-year-old Lisa is married to a wealthy merchant, fourteen years her senior. What will become of their love? Will they ever see each other again? The author takes you back to Renaissance Italy in a story that is as old as love itself, with a twist that will leave you looking at something you thought you knew, in a whole new way. In this latest romance from the pen of the author, a boy and girl’s first love leads to a love eternal. Your mind may tell you it’s make-believe, but your heart will tell you it’s true. How did Mona Lisa get her smile?
