“California Dream” is set in Mid 1980's San Diego and tells the story of five unlikely friends whose lives become intertwined by chance. The California dream of their 1960's childhood is changing rapidly, becoming expensive and increasingly unattainable. The world of the 1960's TV sitcom, "The Brady Bunch, has become the world of "Pretty Woman", "Falling Down," and the 1992 Los Angeles Riots.A Young Naval Officer named Dan, from the Midwest, meets the girl of his dreams, Nina, on a Coronado Street. When Nina meets Dan, she realizes she is engaged to the wrong man. For months afterwards she juggles two men, wanting one, while afraid to break up with the other.Through Nina, we meet her roommate Daisy, the quintessential California girl with the perfect face, Beneath Daisy's beautiful exterior, lies a vulnerable woman with a tragic past. Daisy is a "good girl" masquerading as a "bad girl." She walks the fine line that aspiring young actresses must walk between the legitimate world of cinema and the world of porn. For Daisy, life is an endless party, just another day at the beach. Unfortunately, Daisy finds herself going nowhere, until she meets Bud.When Bud enters her life, Daisy finds she must choose between her dream and the three most important men in her life. There is Brad, the happy go lucky wealthy ex-boyfriend who offers her a life of easy money, and moral compromises; Truman, the generous standup comic who Daisy believes is her ticket to success; and Bud, the man's man, from the Navy recruiting poster, who believes in her even when she doesn't believe in herself. Rather than choosing, Daisy tries to have it all.Eventually Daisy achieves her dream, only to discover her dream was an illusion. Fame and fortune are not what she expected. During a moment of great personal crisis Daisy finally discovers an important truth about life. Life is short, and seldom turns out as we expect. Choosing not to choose is a choice itself.
