After armed men rob the building society where she works, Gemma Brent gives a televised description of one of the criminals. When Gemma's friend is shot at in the street, a forceful stranger, Carr Winterton, thinks it is a case of mistaken identity. Claiming to be with the police, he whisks Gemma away from the danger, but, too late, she realizes that he bears a striking resemblance to the gunman. There is a subtle attraction between her and Carr, but there is no way she can trust him.
