Synopsis

When Ken Patterson dies unexpectedly, his wife and children struggle to get through the holidays. No one reads the Christmas story-that was something he'd always done, and it's just too hard. Teenaged Melody can no longer sing in the choir with the joy of the Hallelujah. The only song in her heart is filled with melancholy. Melody's mother, Judy, worries when her youngest's moodiness and gloom persist, but is relieved when the girl meets someone special and finally seems to enjoy life again. However, as the Patterson family's second Christmas without the head of the household draws near, the presence of a stranger threatens to destroy another holiday. Feeling betrayed, Melody runs away with only a few belongings and the Bible her father gave her. Will she find the answer to her dilemma within its pages? Will joy ever return to Melody's song?
