Sandstorm Miguel has claimed the lives of millions of people. In an effort to restore the workforce and the economy to former glory, corpses are brought back to life—'reactivated'—and coded to work until they expire a second time. Alex Horizon, a 30-year-old farmer in a desert town, is surrounded by these Reactivations and has given up trying to find a living partner among the walking dead.
