Synopsis

The Llewelyns lived in Copperman's Row - a small backstreet where the women fought a constant battle against the copper dust from the smelting works. When Mali's mam died there were just two of them left, Mali and her father, sacked from the works for taking time off to nurse his wife. Mali felt she would never hate anyone as much as she hated Sterling Richardson, the young master of the Welsh copper town. But Sterling had his own problems - bad ones - and not least was the memory of the green-eyed girl who had spat hatred at him on the day of her mother's death.
