Lady Lettice Kenton swears she would never love a man, but while fleeing the British government for murdering her wretched husband Lord Philip Kenton, she gets swept off her feet buy a colony bumpkin by the name of Charles Murdock. After spending months on a ship hiding under Murdock's name she is torn by a decision to leave the security of Charles or finding her own way in a world she had never imagined existed.
