My captor was as cold as ice one minute and hot as fuego, the next! Eduardo Lopez was the merciless heir of the cruel crime family who owned our land in our Cuban village. He took me from my family, while we were celebrating my eighteenth birthday. He didn’t let me have my last night with them in peace. He didn’t care. All he knew was one thing, I belonged to him, and he came to collect. It was all based on the rumor. The so-called legend. The first-born girl in my family was to be given to him. A debt that was started over a century ago. A debt which was started by one of my ancestors, who’d lost to his in a poker game. Eduardo was holding me captive, and he threw away the key. There was no being taken by a beast who would turn into a prince, and we would live happily ever after. It was all one big f****** lie. He took the key to my freedom and buried it. Just like he would do with me if I didn’t obey him.
