DANCING WITH NO A NOVEL He powers through life in a wheelchair -- and he won't let anything stop him from changing the world. David Hardy is a young writer who isn’t sure he’s good enough at anything to be a rock star at something. He has just turned 18 and is worrying his way through a long, hot summer when he packs up his self-doubts, and a few clean clothes, and heads off for a two-week stay in Boston. David has cerebral palsy and is attending a transition program for teens with disabilities who want to learn skills that will help them make it in the adult world. David soon finds himself investigating a friend’s death, sorting out his feelings for a wonderfully unique girl, and learning how to make his wheelchair dance. Staying alive may turn out to be a challenge, but at least his summer will not be boring. Dancing with No Shoes is a coming-of-age story with unique characters who fall in love and solve a mystery while setting out on a path to independence. If you can imagine someone who resembles a young Stephen Hawking joining a diverse group of teens with disabilities, you're well on your way to immersing yourself in the world of Dancing with No Shoes. The author, Scott Lindgren, is a child psychologist, disability advocate, researcher, and Emeritus Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Iowa.
