A northern lad's struggle to make his dream of football stardom come true ... whatever the cost - 1967. Jenna Duncan's only ambition is to marry the boy she loves and have a little terraced house away from her dull job and her parents' boring life. Ruari Gallacher has other ideas. He wants to be a professional footballer. Jenna knows that talent doesn't guarantee success, though, and when Ruari lets her down she breaks up with him. He leaves to follow his dreams but, even if he makes it, what will his life be without her?
