The year is 1850, and after a five-year absence, Dr. Brendon Morgan has returned to his hometown, Clayton, Missouri, to establish his medical practice. Brendon wants nothing more than to escape the harsh grim reality of big city life and return to the tranquil countryside he loved in his youth. However, imagine his surprise, when shortly after his arrival, he finds himself falling in love with his childhood friend, Kathleen Warner. A childhood friendship that is growing/changing into a love that burns brighter than the noontime sun. A love he never expected, and is not sure he wants. What if it doesn't work out and he loses his best friend? The risk is high, but he can't help following his heart. But then strange, unexplainable, incidents begin to occur, and Brendon becomes convinced that someone is trying to kill Kat ... but who? And why?
