Rachel Marie Oates arrives in the small Southern town of Shady Rivers to claim her inheritance and immediately turns one person’s world upside down. Having dealt with women trying to finagle their way into his inheritance before, Bueford T. Beauregard, VI, is not pleased with the little piece of paper Rachel hands him as proof she owns half of his hotel and bar and immediately begins procedures to prove her wrong and get her out of his life.
