Working as companion to a crotchety elderly lady, Ella Matthews' existence is brightened by her brother's letters telling her of his adventures on the goldfields of Australia. When he invites her to join him she's thrilled to go and experience some adventures herself. But arriving in Melbourne, she's stranded, alone and fearing for her brother's safety. The only man she can turn to is journalist Nathaniel Lake. Will he agree to let her accompany him to the goldfields?
