Joe Harlow is marrying his longtime friend, Peggy Baker, in a no muss, no fuss Vegas wedding. He had planned a week of getting to know one area of her life he still didn’t know anything about, when a woman makes a requests for Peggy and Joe to investigate some strange goings-on at the library in Elm’s Grove. All his plans go out the window as his new bride’s excitement for a case takes over. He had no choice if he wished to keep her happy, but he would spend the rest of his honeymoon keeping her out of trouble with the law and safe from bad guys. Throw in a reporter who had exclusive rights to write about Peggy’s cases and he knew he would have no nice memories of his wedding. He could only promise himself that he would do everything he could to help her, even if that meant taking her over his knee and spanking her bottom red when she crossed the line.
