Synopsis

The winsome Carita Wensley runs away when her stepfather insists on her marrying old Lord Stilbury, and whilst seeking somewhere to stay for the night she sees a stranger fall from his horse. When the man regains consciousness, Carita discovers that he, too, is fleeing a plot that will trick him into marriage. He was the Earl of Kelvindale, who was fleeing a devious mistress when he was thrown by his horse, and he decided to hide his identity to his rescuer. Desperate for protection, the young, beautiful Carita claimed that this stranger, was her husband.
