Beautiful Hero Fraser lives a pampered existence, where rich men are to be married... and then buried. But when her mother and stepfather leave her without a penny, she is forced to journey to her beloved aunt who lives in the wild north of Scotland. Taking shelter in a ruined abbey, she finds more than she ever bargained for. With her in the abbey is the highlander Ciaran MacLoarn - the last warrior of his clan, sworn to avenge his family's betrayal and slaughter. Thrown together by fate, the unlikely pair brave the dangers of the Scottish Highlands in search of Hero's mysterious aunt, while also following a trail of clues which may uncover the treachery behind the MacLoarn clan's annihilation.
