When she unexpectedly inherits a ranch near the Rocky Mountains, Laura Hughes and her teenage brother leave England for a fresh start in Canada. Her wide-eyed innocence and natural charm soon draw the attention of Cal Wexford. He offers her a job so she can prolong her stay, and Laura happily accepts. Cal tries to keep theirs a working relationship, but Laura is arousing emotions in him that he's never felt before. Their mutual attraction has caught him off guard, and now he's sure of only one thing: though he's succeeded in getting close to her, he's still not close enough.
