Synopsis

Who gets the songs in a breakup? When Beth left Tom to go to school on the other side of the country, it felt like she took all of the good breakup songs with her. Anything about love, heartbreak, or lobsters reminds him of her. Unfortunately for Tom, it's hard to be the frontman of a pop-punk band and avoid sappy love songs. Tom convinces his band, Teen Ghost, to tour from coast to coast so he can get Beth back. Spending a week in close quarters with his lustful drummer, Johnny, and bassist, Brian, might be just what Tom needed. His trip, filled with lots of laughs and a few new friends, teaches Tom that it will take more than four chords and a dream to change his life. Inspired by many true events from my past fifteen years with a small, local band, Hold On Loosely is a love-letter to the New Jersey DIY music scene made up of unfinished basements and dive bars where bands still play for the love of music. A companion EP, The Teen Ghost EP , including original songs presented in the novel is available on all streaming services.
