Vanessa Wilson is happy with her quiet life, running her coffee shop in a touristy beach town and sharing a condo with her best friend, Audrey. Then things get complicated when Audrey gets a new boyfriend, who isn't just a man. Supposedly, he's a fae prince from a secret magical realm, and claims that Audrey is the hero that realm has been waiting for. Vanessa has no business in the other realm; she's only human. But while Audrey is concerned with saving the world, Vanessa will go to any length to keep her best friend alive. Soon, Vanessa is trekking the magical realm of Hyvenmere alongside Audrey, interacting with creatures she's only ever heard about in books and movies. This includes a murderous siren named Drustan, who has one thing on his mind-Vanessa. But men are the same no matter what realm they're from, and Vanessa has no desire to team up with the distrustful siren prince-even if he is seven-feet-tall. Especially when Drustan is known for the trail of dead bodies he leaves behind. Yet here she is. Can an ordinary woman whose only power is supportive pats on the back keep her best friend, and herself, safe? Or will she fall victim to the realm of Hyvenmere and its notorious killer, Drustan?
