Story of passion, heartbreak, and the haunting beauty that is Egypt. Young Phillida joins Rex Maltern, her soldier husband, at his posting by the Suez Canal Zone. It soon becomes evident that this new environment of oppressive heat, depression, ruinously expensive living and uncertain home life is bringing their marriage to the edge of disaster.
