Psychologist Anna McColl, rendered homeless by a house fire, finds temporary accommodation in the annex of a house owned by Eric Newsom. Newsom's wife Nikki had been stabbed several months previously, her body being found by her small son, Charlie. Concerned for Charlie's well being, Anna finds herself drawn into the murder investigation. The police still think that Eric Newsom is their number one suspect, but Anna is convinced vital clues have been overlooked. In her opinion, the real answers lie with Charlie...
