1792: Travelling on the long journey from London to Cornwall to meet her estranged father, Hester is plunged into peril when her coach is held up. She escapes and narrowly avoids falling victim to smugglers, due to the timely appearance of Hal Trevian. Hal takes her to her father, but, instead of finding security, other problems arise ... although Hal is always there to support her. Will their interest in each other ever turn to love?
