When Lucy's sister Angela was injured in a car crash, Lucy felt responsible for Angela's two small sons, at the moment left with their grandmother, who had no time for Angela. So when old Mrs. Carrick advertised for a Nanny for the boys, Lucy got the job, keeping quiet about her identity. But was it a wise move? It antagonised the children's formidable uncle, Fergus Carrick, and brought down on herself the jealous spite of Fergus's friend, Celia Grange.
