In 1880, how does a woman survive abandonment by her husband when too ashamed to go home? Molly Dandridge comes to Green River City in hope, but soon knows despair. She finds work, of sorts, in Andy's saloon, when Purgatory Sands arrives, a newly commissioned Marshal, hoping to shake his past and become a respected lawman. Purgatory and Molly meet, feel strongly attracted to each other, but have pasts that complicate those feelings. Then "Frenchy" Dubois, a man murderously obsessed with winning the love of a pure woman, abducts Molly. Enters, too, Kenneth McMann bent on provoking a range war and is so ominous that even the formidable "Frenchy" shrinks from him in fear. Will the Marshal rescue Molly?
