Synopsis

Lady Helena Carroway has learned the price of loving too deeply, and she has vowed never to lose herself again. Soon, an arranged marriage to a distant duke forces her into an unfamiliar world where warmth has long faded. Yet as she steps into a cold household and an even colder marriage, she might discover that even frost-bound hearts can still flower. Gabriel, Duke of Hartwell, lives by duty alone, his past marked by war and quiet grief. He expects little from marriage beyond obligation, until his new duchess brings an unexpected light into his ordered life. As her presence begins to stir what he has intentionally buried, will he risk his shielded heart for a chance at something more? Bound by duty yet divided by fear, Helena and Gabriel must face jealousy, lingering shadows, and the return of those who once held their affection. Pride keeps them apart even as longing draws them closer in a house ruled by silence. When love begins to bloom, will they retreat into old wounds or dare to claim the happiness they deserve? Tropes: Arranged Marriage, Brooding Hero, Opposites Attract "Mending the Duke’s Withered Heart" is a historical romance novel of approximately 75,000 words.
