There is surely something about him to admire. I shall find it and use it to convince Lizzy she loves him—if she does not already. Will a mother's determined matchmaking, make love prevail? When Mr Fitzwilliam Darcy returns to Hertfordshire and Elizabeth Bennet, the woman he loves, their relationship has changed since the previous autumn, when she despised him. Darcy is disappointed to be greeted by coolness but he believes he understands her prejudice. Elizabeth Bennet knows that any chance they have of finding happiness in marriage with Mr Darcy has been destroyed by Lydia's elopement. Nothing suggests that he has any desire to rekindle the warmth between them that she felt at Pemberley. As much as they both long for each other, being together only increases the heartache.
