Jackson Corona was a good boy, had good grades and was socially accepted. However, his awkwardness appeared when trying to speak to girls. “Hi, Jack,” called Suzi, “will you be my partner in science class?” She was the cutest girl he had ever seen, and he became flustered in her presence. “I was going to pick Ralphie,” he stammered. “Okay,” she said sadly, “another time.” She left with tears welling up in her hazel-green eyes. Slamming his head with his book, Jack cried out. “Why did I say that? And of all people, Ralphie!” Suddenly a voice rang out. “Hey, Jack! Boy, why the long face?” It was the devil himself, Ralphie! Combing back his slick, greased hair and chewing on a matchstick, he opened the burlap bag he had slung over his shoulder and pulled out a small, white poodle.
