A phone call from locum Dr. Leo Lamont sent Sister Madeleine Penrose dashing home to Devon. Her GP father had suffered a stroke and her mother had managed to break both arms - which meant that Maddy had to hold the fort. Leo called on her services too. Working with him made Maddy realise how very special he was. Unfortunately his relaxed good humour gave nothing away, and Maddy was convinced she loved in vain.
