Avalon’s secret is out, and the first test of her friendships has left her alone. After Jericho revealed Avalon’s status as an Outcast, everyone has turned against Avalon, even people she didn’t know. Sure, Enid and Jackie still talk to her, but they share a dorm, and they’re never home. Left abandoned, Avalon’s hurt turns to anger at those who abandoned her just because of her family’s standing. Is status truly all that matters to the dragon blood? But where there’s dark, there’s light, and Avalon finds a new friend in an unlikely place. Lusk has stepped into the gap left by Maverick’s and Bullock’s abandonment, proving that not everyone hates Outcasts, especially not this hot-tempered Fire user. As Avalon struggles to find a new path, the final test for the Novices draws near. Will Avalon be able to pass when her team won’t even talk to her?
