Conway retires from the FBI and takes with him copies of reports he’d come across when he had been investigating murders. Now that he has the time to study the cases in greater detail, he believes that only one hit man was responsible for those unsolved murders. He now makes identifying that hit man his full-time job. Bill is the closest thing to a friend Brian Purger has ever had, even though Bill knows that Brian is a hit man. Bill is a college graduate and works for a large company that sends him all over the country. He is a widower with a young daughter and values family life above all else. When he marries Leigh, he is worried she will find out about his friendship with the hit man. Brian threatens to eliminate Leigh if she finds out about him. He threatens to kill Bill too if he gets in the way.
