When Derek Murrow’s family visit turns into a prolonged stay due to a family emergency, he doesn’t mind. Family is everything to him, and he loves his home town. A lot of his old haunts are gone, but Trimble Park is still there, and Derek passes a lot of time shooting baskets on the court.Single, independent, Venice Giles is spending time with her brother’s kids while he and his wife figure out their future. As the days go by and that future looks more and more bleak, Venice takes on the role of caretaker to her nephews. Because their homelife is so troubled, she and the boys spend a lot of time at Trimble Park.Derek and Venice cross paths on the basketball court and find each other again at the local coffee house. Their friendship is immediately comfortable and fun. But they closer they get, the more rebellious River, Venice’s oldest nephew, becomes, until finally, he focuses his rage and helplessness on Derek.Will River’s rage drive a wedge between Derek and Venice?
