Fenton was a haunted man. He had always been. He had nightmares almost every night of his life since he was a boy and there was always a ghost lurking around him. HE THOUGHT THEY’D GO AWAY AFTER HE RAN AWAY FROM THE PLANTATION BUT THEN HE REALIZED THAT THEY JUST FOLLOWED HIM INTO THE WAKING WORLD. Fenton is a nineteen-year-old young man who has run away from the plantation where his family has been held for three generations. Meilyn is a young woman who is still reeling from the death of her father and the sudden departure from her native land and the life that she once knew. The two are soon stuck with each other, for better or for worse, but even though they find themselves falling for one another with each passing day, their secrets and hidden pasts threaten to ruin everything that they have built. The pair constantly argue and pull away when they want nothing more than to fall into each other’s embrace. Happiness is a common goal but sometimes seems impossible to reach. Reader discretion is advised for this is not your average love story. Fenton is not anyone’s prince charming and Meilyn is definitely not the lead female character that you usually root for. In this book, you will find things that are hard to swallow and you will soon learn that sometimes looks can be deceiving.
