Synopsis

Elsa Longfellow, a naïve girl from Brooklyn, finds herself captured by Nazi forces when she rashly decides to travel in search of the painters Matisse and Picasso. Rescued by a handsome British spy, Tarquin Gilbert, Elsa finds herself living in London and caught up in a war of which she never wanted to be part. As the war worsens, the danger increases, and their romance blossoms. But love during wartime is not the easiest, and Elsa and Tarquin find themselves torn apart. Sent to the countryside without him, Elsa buries herself in her artwork, finding an outlet for her longing and a talent that is quickly noticed. As she discovers her own potential as an artist, Tarquin is thrust into the battlefield and a fight for his life. Through it all, their relationship will be tested, and the battle scars left behind will define the depths of their love.
