Synopsis
A surgeon's daughter just crawled into my lap and begged me not to let anyone take her. I’m a janitor at a hospital, and I just found her asleep on his office couch. I was cleaning off his desk when I heard a small voice say, “Are you my daddy’s friend?” She was curled up under his jacket, eyes barely open, and I could tell she’d been crying. I sat down next to her and she crawled into my lap without asking, buried her face in my shirt, and fell back asleep almost instantly.
