Synopsis

Jessamine Allen wanted nothing more in life than to find her independence and continue working in her late father's printing shop. Here she meets the charming August Clifton Bell—a new customer who sweeps her off her feet and holds the key to the new life she seeks. However, with a twisted turn of events, Jessie finds herself on the run from a killer who will stop at nothing to destroy her and the information she holds. Lester Bailey, officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, has been stationed in the quiet frontier town, Shadow Valley, for the last year. One day Les’s peace is shattered when a lone traveler comes riding in, slumped and bleeding over an exhausted horse. Les hurries over to assist the rider and is shocked to find Jessie, his lifelong friend. He’s horrified to realize her wound is no accident—she's been shot. Les didn’t think he could feel so much rage, but when Jessie tells her story, her words bring him to his knees. After a life of pain and war, Benjamin Grey’s only desire was solitude. But one day a brief encounter with a young woman will leave a ghostly impression in his mind. Her eyes reflected the same pain and anguish that plagued his own heart. As Ben retreats to his mountain home he can think of nothing besides this mysterious young woman.
