Grayson Ward came home from the Army with scars that have caused him to cut himself off from friends and family. In spite of the fortune he made investing his pay, he feels like a failure and a monster. His mind is set on solitude, until an ex appears one night with a sweet little bundle. Grayson forms an instant connection with the helpless baby boy, and immediately agrees to take full custody. The calendar suggests that baby Leo can't really be Grayson's. But everything about taking care of the baby feels like home to the lonely soldier. When Grayson decides that the little one could use an extra grown-up in his life, his buddies at the local Veterans center suggest that he should find a nice woman to date. But in small town Trinity Falls, gossip moves at the speed of Santa's magical sleigh, and Grayson wants no part of that. Besides, what woman would want a single dad with wounds that are more than surface deep? Hoping to keep things simple and professional, he hires a nanny instead. He doesn't anticipate the long nights together, their shared laughter at Leo's antics, or the light in her eyes that's brighter than the star on his Christmas tree.
