Some Adult Themes. Set in 1850, this historical novel is an adventure story embracing loyalty, love, disaster and courage. Woven through the drama is the love story of Jess and Andie who share their lives with the extended family of McCubbins in Scotland, then embark on a voyage to Australia. It is a tale of adventure and disaster as their ship comes to grief on rocks. It is a yarn of survival against the odds and of incredible bravery as Jess gives birth on the beach two days after the shipwreck.
