Synopsis

In a bitter winter at the height of the Cold War, jazz pianist Drew Fisher travels from New York to Moscow as part of a government-sponsored music tour. His playing is superb, but he’s haunted by the demons of past addiction and personal failure. Tour organizer Katya Timoshenko is locked in a different battle; trapped in a loveless marriage to a high-ranking official, she’s fighting to keep herself and her children safe from the menace of the Soviet state. When Drew and Katya meet, the attraction is instantaneous, and their love unfolds under the suspicious watch of both governments. Against all odds, they plan a future together, but the authorities intervene, leaving them with the most difficult of choices. Song for Katya evokes the spirit of a place and time when the purest of human emotions could be the most dangerous.
