Fourteen-year-old Marie Anne Lawson, daughter of a wealthy family, was running away from a sight she should never have witnessed. She stumbled, fell, and was discovered by a local man who happened to be terribly disfigured. Terrified of him, Marie Anne passed out and when she came to, was back in her own bed.
