There were three conflicting interests in Alex's life: two men -- and her career as a dress designer. Terence offered her his love, but Charles Viddell could help her career. She knew that Charles found her attractive -- but she also knew of his reputation as a breaker of hearts, and she had no intentions of getting emotionally involved with him.
