Ann Harmon was to visit the grandfather she had never seen because she believed he was a sick old man. On the way, she meets Adrian Manston, also on his way to the old man. Both Ann and Adrian have reason to hate old Robert Harmon, but when the secret of the cottage in the wood is revealed, they change their minds.
