Synopsis

As regent of a small principality within France, Dowager Grand Duchess Eva de Maubourg feels secure, until Jack Ryder arrives to tell her that her 9-year-old son, who she believes is safe in England, has had strange accidents and that her brother-in-law is making explosives for Napoleon. Knowledge is a dangerous thing, and Jack has been assigned to escort Eva to safety. They flee, using disguises, their wits and all the time watching their backs. Danger ignites passion, and though Eva and Jack know romance complicates their mission they cannot resist a chance for happiness. But what will happen once they reach England? Can love overcome their stations in life?
