Synopsis

Elizabeth Bennet has the measure of Mr. Darcy: proud, silent, and determined to find Hertfordshire beneath him. One more morning at Netherfield, and she need never think of him again. Then the rain comes down, the carriage cannot be sent, and a search for a book delivers her into a quiet library already occupied by the last man in the world she wishes to see. What follows is a conversation neither of them can explain away, and an admission that overturns two months of Elizabeth’s most carefully kept conclusions. She has mistaken a guarded heart for a cold one. And Mr. Darcy, who economizes on words, has chosen this morning to spend them. Before she leaves Netherfield, he has asked leave to call at Longbourn. By Tuesday, all Meryton is talking. And Elizabeth must decide which is more dangerous: being wrong about Mr. Darcy once, or being wrong about him twice. One unrecorded morning. One altered heart. One happier road to Pemberley. The Morning Mr. Darcy Stayed is Book One of The Unrecorded Hours : clean, witty Pride and Prejudice short variations you can read in one sitting.
