Synopsis

River: I only had one rule—stay far the fuck away from Rachel Simmons (AKA, Mouse). And it worked for me. It worked for us. It meant minimal contact (until she had to swallow her pride and ask me for help getting liquor off the top shelf). It meant peace of mind. But that was all before her apartment flooded, leaving her without a place to stay, leaving me with the only available spare room amongst our friend group. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned when it comes to Rachel, it’s that once my cardinal rule is broken, bad things happen. Rachel: Our personal history aside, what type of monster doesn’t decorate for Halloween? And sure, we live in one of LA’s Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods—but that’s beside the point. And Halloween (or the lack thereof) is the least of my problems when it comes to River. He might look like a rock star and, okay, I’ll admit, he has a voice that could rival Bon Iver’s, but that’s about as deep as he gets (as in, not at all). At least, that’s what I thought…
