Synopsis

Lysias has never been confused about love. He has only been afraid of the loss it may cause, to one’s soul, to one’s existence. When We Met is a contemporary romance about grief, longing, and the fragile space between comfort and desire, love and attraction, lust and obsession. Set during one transformative summer, it follows a protagonist who loves deeply, but stays silent far too long, and learns that not all hearts survive love the same way. As friendships blur and emotions slip out of control, Lysias finds himself caught between what feels safe and what feels true. Guided by the quiet presence of Grandma Perk_ a woman shaped by love and loss_ he begins to understand that surviving isn’t the same as living. Sometimes, healing doesn’t come from forgetting grief, nor is forgetting necessary, but from walking through it. Tender, philosophical, and emotionally raw, When We Met explores unreciprocated love, emotional dependence, and the moments that shape us into someone, unknowingly. This is a story for anyone who has loved quietly, hurt deeply, and wondered what might have happened if they had spoken sooner.
